What is Family Learning?

"Dinner's ready!"

How do we encourage visitors to laugh and learn together? Family learning in the museum setting occurs when two or more people with an on-going relationship walk around, look, converse, and engage in activities together. Does it always look like this? How can we make it happen? What assessment tools do we need to determine if we are meeting the needs of our family visitors?
