The USS Constitution Museum is excited to share findings on family learning in exhibits in a FREE daylong workshop for museum professionals. Engage Families is coming to the Jacksonville, Florida area on January 30, 2009. Where do families gather and learn at your museum? How can you engage this important constituency group? What makes a successful family exhibit?
You’re invited to a hands-on, minds-on workshop offering concrete tools to create engaging exhibits for an intergenerational audience sponsored by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Topics include understanding family learning theory, building and testing prototypes of family friendly exhibit elements and gaining a clear idea of current market research. You’ll learn simple, effective, tested techniques and come away with low-cost replicable ideas to help you enhance your exhibits!
This workshop, presented free of charge by the USS Constitution Museum, reflects three years of study interviewing over 2,000 families as part of an IMLS National Leadership Grant. Explore the rest of this website for more information and fun ideas!
The Engage Families workshop is free to all museum professionals.
