The USS Constitution Museum and the Minnesota History Center are excited to present a FREE daylong, IMLS sponsored workshop for museum professionals that will explore how your museum can serve present and future family audiences. Engage Families Minnesota will be hosted at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul, Minnesota on Monday, April 26, 2010. You are invited to this hands-on, minds-on workshop that offers case studies, innovative ideas, current research and an action plan for creating engaging and educational programming for a multi-generational audience.
The Engage Families: Minnesota workshop is sponsored by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Topics include:
- The theory of family learning and what it means for museums
- Writing engaging exhibit labels that your visitors will use
- Creating low cost hands-on, minds-on exhibits
- Developing prototypes
- Present market research about family visitors to museums
- Examples and discussion of what makes a successful family program
- The benefits for museums of serving a family audience
You’ll learn simple and effective techniques and come away with low-cost, replicable ideas that will help advance your institution’s interactions with families.
