The USS Constitution Museum and the Museum of History and Industry are excited to present a FREE daylong, IMLS sponsored workshop for museum professionals that will explore how your museum can serve present and future family audiences. Engage Families: Washington will be hosted at the Museum of History and Industry in Seattle, Washington on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. You are invited to this hands-on, minds-on workshop that offers case studies, innovative ideas, current research and an action plan for creating engaging and educational programming for a multi-generational audience.
The Engage Families: Washington workshop is sponsored by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Topics include:
- The theory of family learning and what it means for museums
- Writing engaging exhibit labels that your visitors will use
- Creating low cost hands-on, minds-on exhibits
- Developing prototypes
- Present market research about family visitors to museums
- Examples and discussion of what makes a successful family program
- The benefits for museums of serving a family audience
You’ll learn simple and effective techniques and come away with low-cost, replicable ideas that will help advance your institution’s interactions with families.
